Miss Imo State 2013: Ogechi, ex-queen vies for the crown


Former MTN sponsored Most Beautiful Girl (MBG) in Egbema Kingdom 2010; Miss Ogechi Samuel- Onyeoyibo has promised to embark on a number of projects if she emerges as the winner of “Ada Imo” (Miss in Imo State) beauty pageant 2013.
Miss Ogechi, a final year Biology student of the Alvan Ikoku College of Education (AIFCE), said becoming the first daughter of Imo State will give her the platform to carry out projects that will reawaken cultural consciousness among Imo youths in the 21st century. “Our language, identity and value system are fast eroding. We need young men and women ambassadors that will act as touch bearers in cultural self-rediscovery. I will also reach out to widows and the less privileged in the society.”
The ex-MTN beauty queen is representing Ohaji/Egbema Local Government of Imo State at the 2013 Ada Imo beauty pageant, which comes up on May 22, in Owerri. Ogechi is confident that she will be among the finalists and possibly win the crown. Ada Imo, is cultural beauty pageant that is organized by the Imo state government through the ministry of community government and Chieftaincy Affairs headed by Lady Barrister Ugochi Nnanna-Okoro (Commissioner).
It is a two-pronged competition which involves Ada Imo and Okpara Imo (Imo daughter and Imo son), with a new car that is donated by his the Governor of Imo Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. According to the organizers, before the grand finale, all the contestants from the 300 autonomous communities in Imo State are expected to participate in a fashion parade where the finalists will be selected.
