A Supra has set the world import speed record for the quarter-mile with an impressive run below 7 seconds. The car, driven by American Gary White, broke the 240 mph barrier.
The EKanooRacing 2JZ GT86 set the GCC Super-Street ¼-mile record with a time of 6.05 seconds. Its speed crossing the line was 387 kilometers per hour or 240 mph for us metric-challenged Americans.
The record was set at the 2014/2015 Bahrain National Drag Racing Championship at the Bahrain International Circuit, which features an international standard drag strip. EKanoo also reset a world record with its 997 Tiptronic on the same day with a quarter-mile run in 9.09 seconds at 156.8 mph.
Details are closely held to the vest on this car. All EKanoo will say is it has a 2jz motor with 98 precision turbo that is mated to a 5-speed liberty transmission.
