Family of bats take over woman’s apartment

She has no idea why a family of bats took over her apartment.

A woman who lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada said her apartment has been taken over by bats, and no one is willing to help her.

Christina Abbott said that the first bat appeared one day late last month, and more arrived soon after that.
“I left my home for a week and when I came back I saw more fly around the living room,” she said. “Only since last week there were additional 12 bats,” she added.

“It’s scary,” Abbott said. “The worst was in the middle of the night, I have a dog and it was sleeping in bed with me and suddenly, I thought I felt something. At the same time I heard a noise and about two or three feet from my bed was a bat lying on the ground. Just thinking that I have been sleeping with a bat in my bed is traumatizing,” Abbott said.

Abbott said she has been treated for rabies as a precaution.
The company that manages the apartment building where Abbott has an apartment, Mainstreet Equity Corp., has not been very helpful with the bat problem, she said, and has since realized that their lease was being canceled due to a relationship breakdown.

“I feel very frustrated,” she said. “I was hoping to meet with the pest control and make that decision for myself,” she added.
“Living under these conditions is terrible. I would never live in an apartment which has a bat anywhere in sight. I would not be able to sleep for a single minute out of fear. I can’t understand why no one is helping this poor woman,” Christy Colon, 23, of Toronto, Canada told after learning about the bat problem.

Abbott said she has no plans to return to her apartment and has been staying at her father’s apartment.
